Gardening for Good at Summit Atlas High
On the busy corner of Roxbury & 35th street our school garden thrives, filled with tomatoes, cucumbers, kale, peas, and carrots. This garden is doing more than just providing our AP Environmental Science class with an educational opportunity; it’s helping to solve a bigger problem known as food deserts. Urban food deserts are areas where it’s hard to find affordable fresh produce, where there are no large grocery stores and supermarkets, and instead, neighborhoods are filled with convenience stores and fast-food restaurants that don’t benefit the low-income communities around us. Mid-Beacon Hill Sprouts Pilot
We’re nearing completion of the pilot project at Mid-Beacon Farm Greenhouse. Thank you Heather Weiner for taking on the Sprouts project in a winning first year. There is much to celebrate in a big step forward to providing healthy food for our communities.

Annual Seed Distribution Gathering!
The Seattle Giving Garden Network invites all giving gardeners to its annual Seed Distribution Gathering. We have hundreds of seed packets that include vegetables, herbs and flowers to be collected for planting in giving gardens around the city. When? Saturday, February 11, 2023 10:30 am Where? Montlake Community Center, 1618 East Calhoun Street, Seattle 98112 There will be a short program of speakers at 11:00 am, and opportunities to meet other giving gardeners who are involved in providing nutritious, healthy produce for our neighbors who cannot afford to purchase organic foods.
